Duty-Free Shop

March, 2015

A duty-free shop is a retail outlet usually found in airports or international zones and offers tax-free products to travellers. Tax-free products are not limited to these retail outlets but can also be purchased on airplanes and ships. However, these products are not readily available for train or road travellers although there are some duty-free stores at border crossings between the United States and Canada. The products bought in this type of duty-free shop are usually inspected and sealed to make sure that you do not use or keep them in the country where you purchased them. Another fact about tax-free products is that they remain tax-free as long as you do not exceed your personal exemption allowance. Moreover, although the products you buy at a duty-free shop from your country of origin have no sales tax, there might be tax imposed on them to the country where you are bringing them in.
