Jackson Hewitt Tax Service will again this year have an arrangement with American Express Serve as “an option for clients to receive their tax refunds and manage their money.”
The move follows similar refund-option deals by tax prep giants last season.
Hewitt clients can load their IRS refund for free onto an American Express Serve Card and have access to their federal refund up to two days earlier than a standard e-deposit from the IRS, according to the prep chain.
American Express Serve is a reloadable prepaid account with money management tools. No minimum balance is required. Additional features include ATM withdrawals at MoneyPass ATMs, quick check cashing and taxpayers’ ability to pick up refunds at Walmart stores.
