Abacus Next, which provides turnkey technology solutions for legal professionals, has acquired Cloudnine Realtime and Results Software. Cloudnine is a cloud hosting company that serves CPA firms, while Results makes CRM software for QuickBooks users. The buys are Abacus’ first foray into the accounting space.
Abacus has been in the legal vertical for more than three decades, but the company positions itself as a technology provider first. The idea behind these acquisitions and other recent buys such as last year’s of Gavel & Gown, which makes practice management technology for law firms, is to expand Abacus’ clout as a provider of tech solutions to help grow organizations.
Sam Saab, founder and CEO of Results, will be staying on at the new entity as vice president of product, Results Software. Robert Chandler, founder and CEO of Cloudnine Realtime, will remain in a senior advisory role to the board of directors and the executive team. Josh Clark, former Cloudnine Realtime president, will transition into the role of divisional general manager of Cloudnine Realtime. Both acquired companies will continue operations as usual as standalone business units under Abacus Next.
“Cloudnine and Results fit perfectly into our cross market strategy, and these acquisitions mark a milestone in the transformation of Abacus into a turnkey services provider that can deliver on customers’ complete range of technology demands,” Abacus CEO Alessandra Lezama said in a statement.
Chandler stated that Abacus and Cloudnine are “naturally symbiotic” because of both of their focus on cloud solutions that are scalable for any sized professional firm.
