SlickPie, a Vancouver-based startup that makes a free, cloud-based accounting software of the same name, has introduced MagicBot into its product’s engine. The bot is designed to create automatic transactions from bills, receipts and other documents saved in a Dropbox folder to eliminate manual data entry.
The company conducted a closed beta testing period for MagicBot until December last year, during which time 120 of SlickPie’s active users gave feedback on the bot technology, helping it “learn.” MagicBot was released in open beta in January. According to a study conducted by the company, businesses in the beta testing group reported a saving of 4.54 hours per week, and most businesses saved between 30 minutes to 9 hours. The full study report is available here.
This month, SlickPie released a multi-currency feature. The company is developing purchase order and inventory control functionalities for release in the near future.
